Export and save your file, ready to play or upload anywhere.

Which format should your video converter output?

  • MP4 plays everywhere: phones, TVs, browsers, every social platform. When in doubt, choose MP4.
  • WebM is an open web format that is often smaller than MP4 — great for embedding videos on websites.
  • GIF is for short, silent loops in chats, docs and emails. Keep it under 10 seconds; GIFs get big fast.
  • MP3 keeps only the sound. Use it to pull music, a voice-over or a podcast segment out of a video.

Convert MOV to MP4 when a file won't play

MOV is Apple's video container. iPhones and Macs handle it fine, but many Windows apps, smart TVs, websites and upload forms refuse it. Converting MOV to MP4 keeps the same picture and sound but puts it in the format everything understands. The same goes for WebM to MP4: WebM recordings from screen-capture tools often won't play in older apps or on iPhones.

Video to GIF and video to MP3

For a GIF, start with a short clip: trim it to the exact moment with the Video Trimmer first. GIFs have no sound and use a limited color palette, so they work best for reactions, UI demos and simple loops. Need a bigger, better-looking loop with sound? Use the Loop Video tool and keep it as MP4.

For MP3, the converter extracts the audio track and saves it as a standard MP3 that plays in any music app.

Convert video format online without uploading

Most online converters upload your file to a server, convert it there and send it back. This one runs ffmpeg inside your browser with WebAssembly, so your video never leaves your device. There's no upload time and no server queue — your own computer does the work.

Tips for best results

  • Choose MP4 unless you have a specific reason not to — it's the most compatible.
  • Keep GIFs under 10 seconds; trim the clip first.
  • Convert to WebM only for web use — some apps and iPhones won't play it.
  • MP3 export drops the picture entirely; keep your original video too.
  • Large files convert faster on a desktop browser than on a phone.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert a video for free?

Drop your video into the converter above, choose MP4, WebM, GIF or MP3 and click Export. Every logged-in account gets 5 free exports per day, reset at midnight Brussels time. The converted file is created on your own device and has no watermark.

How do I convert MOV to MP4?

Add your MOV file, choose MP4 as the output and export. The result is an H.264 MP4 that plays on Windows, Android, smart TVs and every website. MOV files from iPhones are supported directly — there's no need to change any settings on your phone first.

Does converting to MP4 lose quality?

The output uses high-quality H.264 settings, so in practice the converted video looks identical to the original. Converting many times in a row can add up, so always convert from the original file rather than from an earlier converted copy.

Why is there no sound in my GIF?

The GIF format simply can't contain sound — that's a limitation of GIF itself, not of the converter. If you need sound, choose MP4 or WebM instead. Both also look better than GIF and produce much smaller files for the same clip.

Is my video uploaded to a server?

No. The video converter runs inside your browser using ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly. Your file is read from your disk, converted in memory and saved back to your downloads. Nothing is sent to us, so private recordings stay private and there's no upload to wait for.

Can I extract the audio from a video as MP3?

Yes. Choose MP3 as the output format and the converter saves only the sound track as a standard MP3 file. It's handy for music videos, voice-overs, lectures and video podcasts. The picture is dropped, so keep your original video if you still need it.
